Lady!!

Last night my mom, Kelly and I all invited ourselves up to my Aunt's house for dinner. It was lovely! When we got there, we opened the door and the two dogs came barreling out of the house. The problem is that Gracie comes when she's called and Lady, the new addition to the family, is a lot like Jax and COMPLETELY ignores people when they call her. Nice. So, after Lady takes off, Maia and I go running after her to attempt to catch her. (Side note: Maia doesn't have on any shoes and I'm in a skirt and dress shoes). I had never even met this creature Lady before, and so far, I'm not super impressed. I tried to be nice to her and entice her with a treat. I tried telling her "no" in a stern voice. Nothing worked, the little rotter. The funny part was after I tried the whole stern thing, Maia looked at me like I had killed her best friend (granted I was thinking about it at this point!!) and then started cooing at Lady and calling her sweetie and honey and all that. It was hilarious! I loved it. Anyway, we ended up chasing her about 16 miles (or so it felt) and finally Maia attacked her and got her collar. Sadly, Lady got away again. At this point, Maia and I are sprinting through these random back yards of people. I've got my skirt hiked up and Maia is trying not to step on any rocks. I'm sure we freaked some people out. After another 16 miles of chasing, Maia finally got her again. Then we started the long trip home. Lady isn't a super tall puppy so I was bent over holding onto her collar while she was attempting to sprint away from me. Argh. Maia suggested I carry the dog. Well, that was all well and good except she's not a small puppy! Needless to say, we all stopped and took some rests. At one point, I was sitting on the sidewalk with Lady and the rotten little dog climbed up onto my lap and started to make herself all comfortable. After another rest which consisted of us sitting on the neighbor's wall while throwing rocks into the street, we finally made it home. The whole experience got funnier as the night progressed. I certainly didn't love Lady very much though. . .

You're nicer than me. I would have just let the dog get lost. Look on the bright side... You got your exercise in for the day! Love ya!

I would have let her just go but Maia was chasing her and I had to at least catch Maia. Don't let the dog out when you go to meet her, Rashawn!!

Keela! You are hilarious!!! I can totally picture you barreling down the street with your skirt hiked up around your waist screaming at the top of your lungs for lady! I'm sure the neighbors had something to talk about at their dinner tables that night. Great! Love ya!

I'm out of breath! Totally a hilarious tale of woes. Next time just shoot the dog with a pellet gun. I won't kill her, just make her listen.
