From the Mouths of Babes...

I have the lovely opportunity to spend a lot of time with kids - friends' kids, work kids, cousins, etc. I've recently had a couple of experiences with a few kids in particular that have made me think about my own life a bit.

1- Emma and Elizabeth Hayes. Oh how I love those skinny little girls! I was over at the Hayes home a few weeks ago and Emma (8) and Elizabeth (5-ish) and I were discussing High School Musical and talking about life. It was great! Somehow we got on the subject of when the girls were babies. I was telling them all kinds of wonderful tidbits about each of the spitting up on me or funny things that they did or said when they were tiny. Emma, out of the clear blue, says "Doesn't life go by so fast, Kayla? And nothing is ever perfect." Elizabeth pipes up, "But nothing is ever impossible!" I SO needed to hear that. Coming from these cute girls it was perfect!

2- Sometimes I forget what its all about. My cute cousin Amanda (4) was over the other night and she had my mom's magnifying glass out as she was "looking for clues." I had kind of tuned her out, quite honestly, and was zoning out myself when she comes up to me and whispers, "Look Tayla (she can't say the K's very well) my shadow can tiptoe on the sunshine!!" She then proceeded to demonstrate just how that works. It's much like the shadow in Peter Pan tiptoes across the wall. I loved it. If only I were as creative and eloquent as Miss Amanda!

I am trying to learn from all of those that I am lucky enough to be surrounded by in this life. I'm thankful for the wee ones around me that are used as instruments in the Lord's hands to help me to "get it." Yay for GREAT kids!

Yay indeed! What a great post--kids are so great, and cute, and hilarious! And what a good, good, very needed, and timely reminder that "nothing is ever perfect", "but nothing is ever impossible." What faith!! Sounds like the Hayes family is doing a pretty good job of raising some smart little girls.
